A laser measure gives fast, accurate interior dimensions and calculates area as you go, which is what room measurements and square footage need. A measuring wheel handles outdoor distances where there is nothing to bounce a laser off. Buy the laser first, because interior measurement is the daily job; add the wheel for lots, frontage and acreage work.
